Here is a list of people mentioned in Dave’s letters or who he’s working with and a brief background. Some names you can click on and it will list all the letters they are mentioned in.
Brian A.- Pray for Brian’s relationship with his mom. He asks for prayer for his walk with God, he wants to continue his walk with God and bring new people in while in prison, as well as when e gets out in Dec. 2025.
John B.- John needs prayer for his newly reconnection with God. Pray for his wife as she is a new Christian. Also, pray for his wife and his son, Christopher, to be able to visit soon. John has put in for a transfer from his present prison, which is 6 hours away from home, to one that is closer to home. May God’s will be done.
Alvon B.- He is Muslim. He lost his wife, brother, and sister within 60 days of each other. He thinks God has abandoned him because so much bad has happened to him. He has told me he is trying to get his faith back, but it is very hard for him.
Heather B.- She lost her 24-day old son this year. We just got her last week. 6/2/23. She is a strong Christian woman, but when I wrote to her and she said that it was perfect timing… she was feeling hopeless with the environment she is in. Pray for strength, perseverance, and Christian friends to help encourage her for the next 8.5 years. If you’d like to be her pen pal let me know.
Chris B.- “So I can ask anything of you and your AWESOME team, it would be that I ask you all to Pray that I have the strength and moral courage to follow my God’s plan, and not fall into Satan’s traps. He gets out in 10 months and it can’t go by fast enough. (of course). Pray that God will use this time to help Chris really focus on Him.”
Jason B.- He is serving multiple life sentences. Dave met him in Nottoway right before he left.
Yovani C,- He is at St. Brides with Dave. He is leading the Spanish Bible studies. He has a decent sized group.
Jabbar J.- Not sure specifically what to pray for. A praise that Brian A. (he is only 18) brought him into our group.
Yester D- He is 25 yrs. Old. He is a new Christian.
Nickolas D.- He is 39 yrs old. He is fighting anger and is worried that God can’t forgive him.
“Tim” R.- Not sure of specifics.
Jose G.- “Garcia” Lost his eye due to the negligence of the jail system. He is still upbeat and loves God with all his heart. Please pray he has his sentencing coming up July 21st.
Michael H.- He is trying to figure out where God fits in his life, but he (himself) keeps getting in the way. He had conversations with Dave that made him think of his current situation, and at least consider God as viable solution.
Kenny H.- He is a 49 yr old autistic person (probably acts like he is 10). Dave met him at Nottoway. He gets out in Jan 2024. Pray someone will help him stay out of the system and that he has a plan when he gets out.
Stephen H.- Tried to commit suicide while in prison. He was interested in Christianity, but he was hopeless. Pray for his mom, she takes care of him. Pray that he is getting the help he needs.
GW H.- He gets out in 8/2023. He suffers from PTSD. Feels like he is letting people down. He has just moved to the short-timers pod. Pray for him it is not as nice there.
“MJ” J- Not sure of specifics.
Devon J- Struggles with same sex attraction and transgender issues. Get out in 5 days. (6/15/23) He wants to find a place that can help him through these issues. He doesn’t want to live that way anymore.
Jay K.- He is working through his drug additions. He gets out in Feb/ 2024. He has been working on himself and his relationship with God. (Praise God) This has been difficult because he is always worried about someone else.
Richard L.- was supposed to get out May 19 2023. But because his lawyer didn’t show up his next court date is June 19, 2023. Pray his lawyer shows up and it is a favorable court case for him.
Harry M.- He lost his faith. ☹ He is trying to find it. Pray that God will send someone who has the time to spend with him and help him see.
Gary M. – He is trying to strengthen his faith. He has had a lot of hard things happen in his life. He loves his Bible we got him.
Shiran N. – “Nate” -no specifics.
Deric P.- “Peacock” – Pray for strength of daily living for God.
James P.- Pray for his faith. He told me even just to believe is hard for him. But he is thankful for the devotions, and he is trying.
Bryan P.- Pray for contentment in his surroundings. Pray that he sees the importance of always doing a good job, he is an ambassador for Christ. He may be moving to a new pod soon. Pray that the new conditions are favorable. 😊
Lewis R.- Pray that he finds a good pen pal to encourage him in the Lord and remind him of God’s love for us. He said he really needs that.
Marcus S. – “Deacon” Praise God for Deacon. He has taken the apologetics information and run WILD with it. 😊His Mom told him, this is the first real conversation she has been able to have with him and she LOVES it, because he has been studying the Bible and tactics. He said Dave has infected him. All these questions keep falling out of his mouth. What do you believe that? How did you come to that conclusion? Now his is trying to witness to his dad. Keep that in your prayers. Also, pray that he will use his “tactics” wisely.
Eric S.- He is a very strong Christian. He knows he is in a refining period of his life. Pray as he continues to read and study, he will stay content and find what God has planned for him.
Adam S. – Adam gets out in October of this year. He is doing well, he has a job at the prison teaching electrical aspects of building. He is an electrician so this will help when he gets out to take the electrician test. Pray for the rest of his time that he continues on this healthy journey. Pray that when he gets out he finds strong Christian friends and family to help him stay strong in God and he will stay away from his “friends” that are very detrimental to his new found Christian life.
Lamel S. – “Smitty” Smitty is on a good path now. He studies everyday and is enjoying the little things in life. Pray that he can continue to strengthen his relationship with God and be a beacon to those around him.
Sherman S.- Not specific prayer request.
Clifton T.- He is at Augusta Facility. He is a very strong Christian man. He also has Bible studies even outside of the facility. He has A LOT of health issues, but his outlook is positive. He is sends me notes to encourage the rest of the guys he met previously. 😊 He is in stage 4 kidney failure.
Sherlon R.- “Twin” He is moderately Jewish. He is one of the moderators of the pod. He is over 100 different inmates. He has to try to keep the peace with the flux of changing tides of inmates. He has a very difficult job. Please keep that in your prayers.
John- I don’t’ know his last name, but he is another pastor at St. Brides. He loves to teach. His passion is end times, but he is only used to teaching Christians. So Dave is trying to teach him Tactics. He was reluctant at first, but now sees the need for learning.
Robert W.- He is a Christian. He was in the Gulf war. He has major issues that came from being in that war that ultimately led to his incarceration. He recently lost his 24-day old daughter. Pray for strength, comfort, I can’t imagine going through something like that and not having anyone : family, friends, a counselor to help you through it. Also, still have to deal with the issues from the war. (Heather is his wife). Pray for them.
Adam – Helps lead Bible study, 14 year old son raised by mother in law for the past 7 years who blocks him from having a relationship with his son. Pray God sends someone to mentor his son.
Antoine – Blood clots in right lung. Turns out it’s not blood clots but extreme stress. Anxious about the future.
Catfish – mid 40’s, Christian, needs encouragement to pursue his own ministry
Chance – mid 20’s, Satanist, schizophrenia, nihilistic, PTSD from watching his fiancée die in front of him after they were both shot in a robbery. Has now accepted Christ as his savior!
Christopher – 38, damaged body from car and motorcycle wrecks, lots of drugs, molested at 6 or 7, Rastafarian, hodgepodge of disconnected beliefs
Crazy – a Word of Faith Christian who is crazy for Christ. Deformed leg from surgery after a near amputation. Under the misconception that enough faith and scripture will get him out of his sentence. Stopped attending Bible study after Dave was moved.
Devin – Learning about pressure points and martial arts from Dave.
DJ – J-Sixer, from California, learning about theology, polemics/tactics
Earl – Older black gentleman who seems grounded in his answers
Elias – 31 from the Middle East, Greek Orthodox with a minor in philosophy
Ernest – Late 30’s and is freaked out because he has so many questions. Has desperately prayed and searched for someone like Dave
James – 20 years old, leading the Bible study in K-Pod, messed up his Navy career, prayed a lot to run into someone like Dave, wants to enroll at Southern Evangelical Seminary and is looking forward to starting his training for ministry as soon as he gets out.
Jeremiah – Late 20’s, 2 month old daughter, deep desire to learn about the Gospel, truth, and critical thinking
Joe – “Trashcan” J-Sixer, early 30’s from the midwest, impulsive due to traumatic brain injury, struggles with missing his family. Frustrated with the culture’s apathy towards corruption in the government.
Laron – Early 30s, Christian, 6 year old daughter, learning apologetics, he told Dave a lot of people had tried to teach him over the years but this was the first time everything made sense. Became more withdrawn after doctors told him he was crazy.
Justin – Jehovah’s Witness
Mark – 5 years for January 6th.
Marcus – Hard man with few friends, told Dave he didn’t belong in jail. Lived in slums of DC. Has his own made up God and does not like organized religion. Was looking forward to being released in time to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with his ailing mother. Release pushed back to end of January 2023 and it’s likely his mother will pass away before then.
Patrick – J-Sixer, soft agnostic (but a quite Christian worldview), strong libertarian. Leaning towards Christianity and attends Bible studies. Struggling with the Kalam Cosmological Argument. Has conceded the Cosmological Argument is reasonable and is working through the Teleological argument. Wants help understanding various theological positions, has great difficulty with the problem of evil and God’s judgement of the Canaanites. Understands that if Christianity is true he’d have to give his entire life to it and seems unwilling.
Peacock – Ordained Pentecostal minister. Sentenced to 25 years, wife divorced him and teen children disowned him. Believes in annihilationism.
Phil – Mid 60’s, graduate degree in either law or psychology and a Jurist Doctorate. Devout Catholic, not sure about inerrancy of Scripture.
Richard – 20 year old Bible study leader, unsure about politics in religion, wants to open a gym that can be a place of Christian learning. Getting burned out from teaching every day for 4-5 months. Parents divorced, bounced around friend’s houses, got into drugs and alcohol. A promising career in the navy ended when his past caught up to him. 11 new charges add on top of the original flimsy charges. Looking into Southern Evangelical Seminary.
Rico – J-Sixer, learning about theology and relationship advice, wants to go into ministry. Getting more antagonistic with many in the pod, woke Dave up at 12:30 am to tell him goodnight and to get some rest.
Roberto – 18 year old Hispanic man, helps lead Bible study
Ronald – In prison for 38 years for killing 4 men and will be released in a few weeks. Devout follower of Nation of Islam but has ordered a Bible. Learning to read. Has several job possibilities lined up. Released 10/22, pray he continues to read the Bible.
Teddy – Older, short, rotund middle eastern guy. Main objection is he couldn’t follow a God that was jealous
V – Has objections on truth coming primarily from emotions, but is making progress.
